Early Flight
Early Flight shows us a small town, anywhere in the world. We look down from our seat as daybreak draws near. Lights of the town have dimmed as the sun’s rays begin to strike distant clouds.
At 16″x20″, Early Flight makes a subtle statement. For purchase information or other inquiries, please contact Don @ donbarnesfineart.com

Little Bend
Yup. This is the second installment of my Nomadas del Arte’ submissions.
Little Bend is one of my favorite small pieces. There’s so much in it that works. I love the combination of colors it presents. Also, there’s the playfulness of sun on snow, which can be tricky when working outdoors because the sun moves.

Yes, it’s time for me to send my entries for the Nomadas del Arte’ show in Dallas. This year I’ve chosen two pieces that I really love. This one is titled Hilltop Road. It’s 8×16 and depicts a simple subject in a very lively way. The color pallette is limited, but sophisticated, drawing inspiration from contemporary design schemes. It’s float framed in black. If you’re in Dallas the first weekend in April, head over to Southwest Gallery for the opening. Lots of fab art and great artists. I’ll post my other piece tomorrow.

Hot Biscuits
This is another of the sunrise series, except it’s a little larger than the others, at 11″x14″. Once again, oil on panel.
Hot Biscuits depicts a very early morning, when the sun has barely begun to lighten the sky. Someone has risen before sunrise to make breakfast. A fire is already warming the stove as biscuits are being prepared.

There have been more health issues with Mom, so the blog has taken a back seat. There are several new pieces to post, which I’ll get to this evening. Do check back.

- Early in the Valley
Did this one today. It’s 11″x14″, oil on masonite.
I’ve been wondering if I should do some of those moody, atmospheric pieces that everyone seems to be painting nowadays. So, here’s my first entry. I’m not sure how it flies, but I hope it has legs.

Sunrise 4
This is the last of the small ones. It’s also 8″x10″, oil on masonite. I’m not sure what led me to add the little stream. Just seemed like it needed to be there.
In any case, enjoy. You may contact me with questions or purchase inquiries. Keep in mind also that the quality of these images has been reduced for web viewing. Higher resolution images are available vie email.
Thanks!
